The iconic outdoor Salamanca Market is a must-visit destination if you’re in Hobart. Every Saturday from 8:30am to 3pm, these markets attract thousands of visitors who are all keen to sample the goods of the 300 pop-up stall holders.
As you wander through the bustling marketplace you can find Tasmanian artwork, jewellery, unique timber craftwork, leather goods and nifty things for around the house. Salamanca Market also sells a range of artisan cheeses, breads, fresh produce and tasty treats to keep your energy levels strong while you continue to shop.
Trust us when we say you’re going to want to bring a big bag with you, so you can pack it full with everything you find! And with so much on offer, we recommend setting aside two to three hours to wander around and find yourself the perfect present or a unique souvenir for friends back home.
If you’re wistfully thinking of visiting, but can’t get down to Hobart for a while, don’t fret, Salamanca Market has just launched an online store so you can shop from the comfort of your couch. So there’s now no excuse to get that present for your grandma.
